DIY Hair Mask

Hello Lovelies,

Today I wanted to share with you an amazing hair mask that has really helped to repair and strengthen my hair. It not only makes my hair feel thicker, it also moisturizes it, and I also feel like it helps it grow faster.

Here it is:

Coconut oil.
1 egg.

Yup that's it.

Two ingredients that work wonders. I used to use only coconut oil in my hair, and don't get me wrong that in itself was amazing, but adding the egg takes it to a whole new level. The egg helps to strengthen your hair while the coconut oil nourishes your hair and keeps it moisturized. It also gives me pice of mind that it's 100% natural. Plus it's super cheap for those of us gals on a budget.

Simply combine the two ingredients in a bowl, and mix mix mix. Apply it to your hair, including your scalp, and let it sit for a good twenty minutes or so. I really enjoy watching a quick episode of friends, or another twenty minute comedy episode while my hair soaks. Then hop in the shower and be sure to shampoo twice to make sure that no residue is left over.

Be sure to comment and let us know how it goes if you do give the hair mask a try! :)

How to get away with washing your hair less

Hello everyone!

You know those girls that always seem to have impossibly amazing silky hair? Yeah you know which ones I'm talking about. They never have a bad hair day and the condition of their hair is impeccable. How do they manage to accomplish such a feat? Well it's easier than it seems. When you dare to ask them, the answer you will most likely always receive will go something like this..

"Oh thanks! I barely wash it, to be honest."

Yup.

The key to good hair is not washing it every day. Why? because you dry it out, and make your scalp over produce oils. So then you wind up with hair that is majorly unbalanced. If you hold off on washing so frequently, you hair will become more nourished, and when you do wash it, it will look all the more amazing. Now I know it can be difficult to not wash your hair, so here are a few tips that have really helped me.

Embrace the top knot - It'll be your go to cute hairstyle. It always looks chic and effortless.

Dry shampoo is your best friend - it gives your hair volume and absorbs the oiliness from your hair.

Slick it back - maybe give the slick ponytail a try? You're bound to feel fierce.

Try overnight heatless waves/curls - it'll give your hair some life after it hasn't been washed. You'll wake up the next morning with hair that looks and feels fresh.

Wear a hat - This is such a go to for me. A hat will never let you down. There are so many stylish one out there too!

Hope these tips are helpful in your hair endeavours!

Love,

Tabitha

Are you really ready to go Short?

Hello Lovelies,

Today I just wanted to have a quick chat with you guys about the pros and cons of going shorter with your hair. See, I've had long hair my whole life, but lately I've been thinking about going shorter, specifically a lob type of hairstyle. The reason I've been wanting to go shorter is simply because I desperately need a change, and I feel like my long hair is starting to drag me down. I know that before I take the plunge however, that I'll have to know what to expect and really weigh out the pros and cons, because nothing is worse that regretting a haircut right after you get it done. I'm sure we've all been there...

This is what I had in mind
One thing you need to really consider before going shorter is your hair texture. Do you have wavy hair? Curly hair?  If so, that means it's going to bounce up the minute you cut it. If you want it to still remain past your shoulders, be sure to get your hair cut at a length that gives your hair that room to spring up.

Next, you need to think about how you're going to style it. One thing that makes short hair super appealing is that it takes less time to curl or straighten. However, are you the type of girl that like to wear a ponytail? Going shorter may prove to make getting your hair into a ponytail difficult, and even if you do manage to get it back, it's going to look very different. It will be less long and less full.

Here's a serious plus for short hair; you use less shampoo and conditioner, and it takes way less time to dry! Hurrah!

Also take into account your face shape. Is your face very round? If so, be sure to find a cut that will truly flatter this face shape. Certain styles can either slim your face or make it look rounder, so be sure to look at hair models and celebrities who have a similar face shape to you when looking for a hair inspiration photo.

Are you okay with having pieces of hair touching your face? Some people can't stand this! I had a friend who would go crazy if she had a single layer brush against her cheek. If you're one of these people, it may be best to go with a cut that is at least past your shoulder and that it is blunt or has minimal layers.

As you can see, there are so many different things you need to take into account if you've been thinking of going shorter with your hair. It may prove to not be worth it for you, or it could be that exact change you need to spice up your hair game! I hope that this article has been of help to you if you're in a similar predicament as me!

lots of love :)

My Favorite DIY Conditioning Treatment

Hello Loves,

Today I wanted to share with you all my absolute favorite way to give my hair a pick me up. This is great to do once a week, or even twice a week during drier, winter months. I actually just did it last night, and my hair feels amazing now, which is what inspired me to write about my experience today. This is perfect for any hair type, but especially for those of you who have dry hair. You'll love this!

Basically after I've showered (I shower at night) I wait for my hair to dry so that it is slightly damp, and then I apply organic oils throughout my hair and scalp. My favorite oils to use are argan oil and rosehip oil, but I think that coconut oil is lovely as well. All are super moisturizing and overall wonderful for hair. I start off with just taking three drops and running it through my ends. I then take around three more and move upwards, starting to spread a little more throughout my scalp. I then repeat the process. I probably end up using about twelve drops. Any more and you'll look like a serious grease monkey. After the oils are all applied, I take about five minutes to really work the oils into my hair and give myself a little scalp massage, which not only feels amazing, but also promotes healthy hair growth. Afterwards, to ensure I don't drag my oily hair all over the place, I put it up into a loose bun and sleep with it up. If you're going out the next morning, be sure to wash your hair with a good shampoo and conditioner thoroughly. I always use a little more shampoo than I normally do. Once your hair dries, your hair will feel SO SOFT. If you intend to spend the day at home, try to wait to wash your hair even longer, and maybe try to wash it at night. That will make the treatment super intensive.

This is absolutely my favorite treatment for my hair because it's fairly easy, and I love the results. If you want to give your hair some love, give this treatment a try! :)

Why You Should Get Bangs

Hey guys,

I was recently going through some old photos from my childhood, organizing and such, when I noticed that I have literally had some form of bangs my entire life. When I was four, I had a blunt bangs to go along with my blunt bob; as I got older and my hair got longer and more wavy, I started wearing my hair in beach waves, with wispier bangs. Even when I tried growing out my bangs, they were never longer than side bangs. They're pretty much a part of my identity. I LOVE having bangs. I think that they can radically change your look in an awesome way, so if you've been thinking about taking the plunge, here are some reasons as to why you should give bangs a shot.

1. They're super chic - Having bangs can instantly make you look effortlessly stylish. They're modern, they make a bold statement, and can add the perfect touch to your look.

2. They make you look younger - Yup. It's true. Having bangs can instantly give you a more youthful appearance. The right bangs for your face can naturally enhance your features, and can soften your look, thus making you appear younger.

3. They can hide an imperfect hair line - If you're hairline is a little wonky, bangs will hide it.

4. For Gals with large foreheads - If you have a larger or wider forehead than you would like, give bangs a go. They can completely cover your forehead if you decide to get blunt bangs, or can make it appear much smaller with a side fringe.

5. They're slimming - Bangs are amazing for making a face appear slimmer than it actually is, because it  will help to give your face more balance. My face is quite round, and it always looks much slimmer when I wear my bangs down as opposed to wearing them back.

6. They're pretty easy to style - Especially if you go with bangs cut straight across. All you need is a blow dryer, a round brush, and two minutes. Plus I find that you can get away with leaving the rest of your hair more natural and messy if you fix just your bangs. You'll look pretty and effortless while still having the right amount of polish.

As you can see, there are many reasons why bangs rock. I believe that they are truly universally flattering, so don't be afraid to take a risk and maybe give your hair a nice change. Who knows? You may never want to go back.

Let Down That Hair

I love a messy bun as much as the next girl, but having our hair tightly bound away all the time is not a great idea if we want to keep our hair healthy. If we want to maintain our hair's health, we must ensure that we give our hair time to be down and flowing and to just let it do it's thing.

Why? Well, for one, all those elastics and clips can't be good for our hair. They're perfectly fine once in a while, but if we make a habit of using them everyday, we could eventually cause damage and breakage to our hair. Of course, I understand that sometimes we need to put out hair up (studying, working out) so my suggestion would be to get those ribbon hair ties, as they are much gentler on hair than those damaging elastic bands. Clips however, are very damaging, so try to avoid those as much as you can.

Another reason to keep your hair down is so that it is able to shed properly. It sounds a little weird, but hair needs to shed everyday, and when we keep our hair up the whole day, we are not allowing our hair to properly shed which could in turn cause MORE hair loss when we let our hair down at the end of the day.

So, as easy as it is to throw our hair up and be done with it, it is a much healthier alternative to let our hair down. It will grow faster and sustain less damage. So do your tresses a favour and ditch that ponytail! lol.

Avocado Hair Mask

Alright guys, so today I have a great DIY hair mask thats amazing for dry, brittle hair in need of some added nourishment. This hair mask is super easy, inexpensive, and extremely effective. All you need? One ripe avocado.

Avocado's contain so many wonderful fats and oils that are of course great for your body, but are also amazing for repairing damaged hair. We're all guilty of colouring our hair and styling it with heat a little too often; It looks so good, how can we not? Which is why we need to make sure to give our hair some love, to keep it looking healthy and nourished.

Simply cut open an avocado, mash it up and apply it liberally through your hair. And if any drips on your face feel free to lick it off. Haha. I like to apply it to damp hair because I feel as though the oils are absorbed better when the hair follicles are open. If you have oily hair I would stay away from your roots about two to three inches; just make sure to slather it on your ends. It can get a little messy, so feel free to wrap your hair up in a shower cap. Then just relax for a good 30-40 minutes to really allow the avocado to penetrate and moisturize your hair. So maybe read a book or a magazine, or even watch an episode of your latest binge obsession on netflix perhaps (mine is Suits).

Once you've let it sit for a nice while, just hop in the shower and shampoo and condition as usual. Afterwards your hair should feel much softer and healthier, and should look a lot shinier as well. To maintain results, try to do this treatment a few time a month!
